So remember that “bomb” chicken burger I hinted at in my last post? With cookout season in full swing and also trying to not eat everything unhealthy in sight, I came up with a little alternative to an everyday burger.
These chicken burgers can be made a couple ways and can also be a meal prep. I ate the left over burgers for lunch with no bun and a side of veggies or salad.
Hawaiian Chicken Burgers
What you need:
- Ground chicken
- Fresh pineapple
- Hawaiian BBQ sauce (I went with Sweet Baby Rays Hawaiian style)
- Turkey bacon
- Whole wheat buns
- Pepper jack cheese (optional)
- Onion
What to do:
Cook turkey bacon and cut into small pieces. Mix bacon, BBQ sauce and chopped onion into ground turkey. Mold mixture into burger patty. Grill the burgers to perfection 😉 then place cheese on to melt a bit. Add some extra Hawaiian sauce, a pineapple and onions to top off. This can all be places in a whole wheat bun or eaten without!
You can also not add bacon to the burger and place on top of the burger along with the pineapple. For meal prepping purposes I left bacon out of some of them.
I also didn’t add any measurements to this recipe because I feel like you can do no wrong with this recipe. Add as much or as little as you’d like.
